"One Tree Hill" is a song by the Irish rock band U2. It was inspired by a hill in New Zealand where a Maori chef and activist named Greg Carroll, who was also a close friend of the band, was buried. The song was written in his memory and was included on U2's 1987 album "The Joshua Tree". The lyrics of the song reflect on the beauty of the natural environment and the concept of renewal. "One Tree Hill" became a fan favorite and is often played during live performances by U2. In 1999, U2 released a live album called "U2 Live at Red Rocks: Under a Blood Red Sky" which features a performance of "One Tree Hill" from a concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado.
